Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: With winter in full force in recent weeks, it's always a welcome relief to have a slightly warmer day on the ocean especially with a light wind. Many layers and the overalls were still, of course needed, but there was a noticeable difference in comparison to recent days and weeks. The tour started off slow, with no real sign of life at all, only very small scattered flocks of eider ducks and the occassional guillemot rafting on the surface. Things then changed dramatically. A large pod of 20 white beaked dolphins were sighted by another company in a different area and we made our way over. The dolphins were easy to spot from a distance as they were leaping and splashing in the calm waters. The acrobatics continued even when we arrived at remained stationary. Some more curious dolphins swam directly towards us, underneath the vessel and resurfaced on the opposite side. Beautiful encounter.

Tour at 9:00
Report from Eldey: We left the harbor before the sun was even up. When the bay laid peacefully in front of us, we watched the sun rising behind a thick cover of dark clouds over Reykjavik. Although the sea conditions and visibility were perfect, we were not awarded by any sightings of cetaceans on this trip. Thus, we handed out complimentary tickets to our customers giving them the chance to go on another whale and dolphin watching tour with us.

Status: RUNNING

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. There is little to no wind and 3°C. Hope you are able to join us on our search of these magnificent animals in their natural environment.
