Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: In the morning, the wind was blowing strong from the sea. Therefore, we decided to start the tour in Hafnarfjördur, a harbour close by. As we went out, we were facing a very chopy sea so we decided to search for shelter close to the land. After about 50 minutes, we spotted a group of Northern Gannets diving for fish. It was amazing to see many of them penetrate the water surface resulting in tiny splashes. We were optimistic since diving gannets are often associated with whales in the same area. Indeed, it only took a while until we spotted a young Minke Whale in the area. We saw it surfacing just a few times before we lost it's trace in the rough sea. When we searched the area, some of us got to see a glimpse of another Minke Whale and even a couple of small Harbour Porpoises showed up. However, it was very difficult to show the wild life to our passenegrs today due to the weather conditions. Indeed, the scenery was nice with rainbows here and there and sun shining through the clouds in some places. It was almost like a summary of the four seasons of a year when it started hailing in the end of the tour - what a weird weather! Eventually, since the whales behaved quite elusive on this tour, we decided to give out complementary tickets to our passengers, which enebale them tom come back on one of our future tours within the next two years - We hope to see all of you again on a less chopy day at sea!
