Tour at 13:00 : RUNNING

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The recent rise in temperatures ended today, and boy was it cold! While our overalls were efficient to keep our body warm, our toes, fingers and noses were definitely put to test! But nevermind the cold, we sailed in absolutely gorgeous surroundings, with a nice sunshine that lasted for the whole duration of the tour. We found 2 different pods of white-beaked dolphins on our tour. The first one had about 5-7 individuals, but proved to be really shy, and disappeared after two minutes. The second one was much nicer though! It consisted of about 8 individuals, including one calf and one we think was a new born! This baby dolphins was tiny and adorable! It was regularly displaying awkward breaches and jumps, as if it was still figuring out how to swim properly, and the mother was never far behind. It was a lovely encounter, with the sunset in the background; so it goes without saying that we had glorious time.

Bird species seen on today's tour include: northern fulmar, common guillemot, storm petrel, eider duck, lesser black-backed gull and icelandic gull

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. There is little to no wind and 0°C. Hope you are able to join us on our search of these magnificent animals in their natural environment.
