Status: RUNNING

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: This tour has been a roller coaster! A literal one, but also an emotional one! When we left the harbour we were surprised to find temperatures quite tolerable, but also some strong and short swell. The way out was consequently rocky, which made sure to give us a taste of the North Atlantic ocean! When we turned back though, we were going in the same direction than the waves, so our tour became much more relaxed. We sailed on an empty sea for most of the excursion, and just when we were getting closer to Reykjavik and coming to terms with an unsuccessful tour, we were told new on the radio about cetaceans. We promptly turned around and joined the vessel emitting the messages. And we got treated with a killer-whale encounter! There was about 6 orcas in this pod, including 2 very young calves. They were exhibiting feeding behaviour; with seabirds hovering above them everytime they were frenetically surfacing. Best part of it is that we could stay for a while with them. It was just so nice!

Bird species seen on today's tour include: northern fulmar, comme guillemot, eider duck, glaucous gull and great black-backed gull

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik on a beautiful but cold day. There could be some movement on the boat out on Faxabay but we do offer seasickness tablets free of charge at the ticket office if you are sensitive to motion sickness. All our boats have inside and outside areas and to make the tour even more comfortable we provide warm overalls
