Report from Eldey: We left the harbor in a good mood for spotting wildlife at sea. The sun was keeping us somewhat warm while the harsh cold wind hurt our faces. We sailed for about an hour and a half when we noticed a big flock of feeding birds, so we knew it was a good sign. Not long after we saw dolphins doing the same as the birds. Approximately 30 white beaked dolphins surrounded the boat. No matter what direction you looked at, there was something to see. The feeding frenzy was continuing without the birds and the dolphins paying much attention to our presence. The marine mammals were jumping out of the water, tail slapping and overall giving us a spectacular display of the beaty of nature. After we had an amazing time observing the dolphins, we had to slowly turn the boat and head back to the harbor. What an awesome trip!

Report from Eldey: We are back to our regular departure from Reykjavik Old Harbour! After a week of bliss leaving from Grindavik, it was time to resume our usual activities, as today the South coast of Reykjanes was under a violent wind, making the sailing extremely difficult over there. We departed in good spirits nonetheless, there was so much wildlife over Grindavik why not in Faxafloi as well? It was a cold journey. At first the cruise was relatively comfortable, we were heading the same direction than the wind and the swell. We caught brief glimpses of a seal, and of a couple of harbour porpoises, but for most of the trip, it was quiet. Until we heard news from other boats that there were some activity happening. We then turned the boat and the ride got a bit rocky, until we joined an area where we sighted 2 different pods of 4-5 and 3-4 white-beaked dolphins! The animals were a bit wary, so it took patience before getting closer encounters. We stayed with them until it was time to go back home. Even though we saw the dolphins from up close, our time with them was a bit tricky and not so long. Therefore we decided to issue complimentary tickets, hoping for our returning passengers to have a more fulfilling encounter.
