Tour Status: RUNNING

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey and Hafsulan: What a lovely afternoon that we have had in both of our boats. The sea state was incredible flat and visibility was so vast that Snaefelsjokul was visible in the distance. With that kind of conditions, spot cetaceans was only a matter of time and we encountered a lot of them. One of the first things to see was a blow in the distance, when we got closer, several minke whales started to appear everywhere, a total number of 3-4 of them were surfacing every now and then while feeding. But they weren't the  only animals in the bay. Harbour porpoises were very approachable and acrobatic, a total number of 4 pods with 18-20 individuals within were seen during the tour. In the way back, we enjoyed a smooth ride and lovely sunshine.

Report from Eldey: Weather was just incredible! Mirror flat sea, no wind and shining sun - what else we could ask for? With this amazing condition it was not a surprise that it was easy to spot dolphins. Huge pod of white-beaked dolphins, between 40 - 50 animals were chilling under sun spread in vast area. When we arrived they express some interest in us, came closer and few even jump out of the water. We could stay with them all day but we decide to look for something even bigger. Not far later we found minke whale! It was rather small individual but it was surfacing with regular pattern making it easy to watch. Some harbour porpoises were also in same area. On the way back we saw much much more porpoises, in total maybe 30? They were everywhere! While watching this small cetaceans we saw another minke whale! This one surface few times in front of the boat but we didn't have time to wait more. It wasn't sad to leave whale behind as we again enter area full of dolphins like at the beginning of the tour. Every minute of the tour was worthy to be all the time outside.
