Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The wind was still blowing strong this afternoon so we adopted the same strategy than this morning: following the coastline from Reykjavik to Akranes, then going down to the whale watching area. It paid off again as the land protected us from the swell. The trip was smooth but unfortunately also quiet. Except many northern fulmars and some feeding kittiwakes, we did not get to spot much wildlife. No cetaceans means that the complimentary tickets were promptly offered to any passengers willing to return. We hope that the bright sunshine we had over the bay allowed the people to not get too disheartened, and that we will see them back on a less windy day.

Report from Eldey: What a beautiful sunny morning to sail out, just a few clouds above us. Apon exiting the harbour we could feel the strong wind but we sailed in the shelter of Mount Esya and Akrafjall, making it really comfortable for everyone on the boat. We encountered many seabirds and could even observe northern gannets shooting in the water for their hunt. We kept scanning the water surface until we started running out of time. Still we did not give up and sailed back with high spirit as nature is unpredictable. Unfortunately the wind seemed to pick up on our way back making it really difficult to spot cetaceans and so in the end we were unlucky and gave evryone complimentary tickets to come back on another tour with us. Hopefully they gonna be more lucky next time!

Bird species seen on today's tours include: northern fulmar, northern gannet, black-legged kittiwake, eider duck & great cormorant.

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. Sea conditions could be a bit choppy so if you're sensitive to sea sickness, we do have complimentary sea sickness tablets at the ticket office and on the boat. All our boats have inside and outside areas and to make the tour even more comfortable we provide warm overalls. Hope you will be able to join us today!
