Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: With the wind on our back we sailed out even though the sky was quite covered with clouds. After some time we saw some quick dorsal fins surfacing and going along with some black-legged kittiwakes. Quickly we realized this where some 8-10 harbour porpoises. We even managed to stay with them for some minutes which is normally quite difficult. Anyways we decided to proceed in our look out and met another couple of porpoises. We kept scanning the water surface for our entire tour but unfortunately we were not lucky to spot any more cetaceans. As we came closer to the harbour we realized this was it for the day and gave our passengers complimentary tickets to join us one more time and be hopefully more lucky by then!

Report from Eldey:  The wind was coming from the East during our morning departure, so the way out was a comfortable ride. The sky was also clear enough to have good lightening and excellent visibility.  We sailed straightforward to the West until we came across a flock of hundreds of black-legged and northern fulmars swarming around. Among them was also few herring gulls, glaucous gulls and great black-backed gulls. Obviously there was copious amounts of food in there so we spent most of the trip circling around. In the process, we sighted several times 4-6 harbour porpoises, and 2 or 3 minke whales. But every time the encounters ere short, specially with the minkes. Most likely they were busy feeding close to the sea bed, and most of the time were surfacing once before disappearing again. Because of that we deemed the sightings unsatisfactory, and took the decision of handing over complimentary tickets to the passengers. Even though we saw the animals, we wanted our customers to have a better look. Hopefully next time!
