Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The morning tour was not too great, but all animal enthusiasts know it: perseverance goes a long way! So we stayed motivated and adopted a change of strategy for the afternoon tour. We went North and followed the coast along Esjan and Hvalfjordur, until we reached Akranes then went South. This enabled us to sail without too much shaking, which is always appreciated. Then we searched in our main area, facing now the wind and the swell. It was a small adventure, but what else to find in the North Atlantic Ocean? We wished we had found cetaceans of course, but to our dismay they were nowhere to be seen. Luck always plays a big part in wildlife tour, and today it was not on our side. So we issued complimentary tickets to our passengers, hoping to have them back as soon as possible. Surely next time we will get more sightings!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: Although the wind was strong it did not feel too cold on the water. Our captain decided to sail along the Reykjanes peninsula because the sea conditions were smoother in that area. The life in the bay had changed significantly since yesterday, instead of finding flocks of feeding birds we only spotted very scattered birds which soared in the strong wind. When we turned North we traveled with the wind which made searching and spotting easier. The only cetaceans we managed to find were 2 harbour porpoises which swam quickly by. As this was our only sighting we offered all of our passengers return tickets. We hope to see you all again on another tour!
