Report from Eldey: After an amazing morning tour we had high expectations in the afternoon one. It was quite cloudy, the sun just managed to break through a bit but with the wind on our back and flat sea we were optimistic. It did actually not take us long until we spotted a minke whale, diving down and surprising us from a total different spot again. Still we managed to take some great pictures but after some time decided to move on and met quite quickly some harbour porpoises, first 2, then 5 until we almost lost track of how many they were. Some swimming really close, others farer away, we guess more then 30 individuals were surrounding us. Also this animals gave us great opportunities to take pictures and moving on we still kept encountering more. After some time another two minke whales surfaced from 2 different spots at the same time, that we did not know where to lock first as we spotted a 3rd in the same area, making it 4 in total on this trip. What a fantastic Friday the 13th, we always thought this is a lucky day!

Report from Eldey: This was such a fantastic spring tour packed with sightings! The weather, visibility and sea conditions were virtually perfect. The tour began with a sighing of two pods of around 8-9 white beaked dolphins. They swam under the boat and all around so we could easily see their whole bodies underneath the water surface and hear them as they came up for air. Our next sighting was a few minke whales! We detected a lot of fish with our depth detector, this must have been the reason why such huge flocks of sea birds, mostly kittiwakes, and 5 minke whales were found in one small area. It is not common for us to see the minke whales so well as we did in this area! We could just stop the boat and listen and watch them surface all around. Harbour porpoises were seen all around the bay! It is hard to estimate the total number of porpoises, they must have been at least 40-50 individuals. 4 other minke whales were seen later on the tour and one pod of 7 white beaked dolphins! Many Atlantic puffins were seen on the tour, we got great looks of these cute and popular sea birds!

Bird species seen on today's tours include: atlantic puffin, northern gannet, northern fulmar, black-legged kittiwake, lesser black-backed gull, gret blck-backed gull, common guillemot, razorbill, cormorant, black headed gull, eider duck.
We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. There will be more wind and swells out on Faxabay in the afternoon so if you are sensitive to motion sickness we do have seasickness tablets free of charge at the ticket office.
