Report from Elding: Where to start? We sailed out under pretty bad weather conditions. The visibility was bad and the rain made us soaking wet. None of this mattered after we returned to the docks after this incredible trip. We saw our first humpback whale after sailing out only about 5 nm. Just about at the same time I was explaining how a spout of a humpback looks like, the giant rose to the surface at our 3 o'clock. I don't quite remember the chronology of this eventful tour, but we saw 8 humpback whales all together, white beaked dolphins for a short wile and multiple harbour porpoises. The humpbacks were all very uninterested in our presence and were feeding around the boat in a relaxed manner. A few encounters were very close. One individual came out 2 meters from the bow, leaving us all breathless. Unfortunately time was getting short and we had to turn the boat around. But that wasn't all this tour had in store for us! As we distanced ourselves from the area were a few whales were feeding, one of them started frantically jumping out of the water about 20 times in a row! + We saw one individual only hundreds of meters from the entrance of Reykjavik harbour. Report from Elding: It was wet morning as from time to time we had little rain. Spotting conditions were pretty good as sea was calm and we could see clearly in long distance. After leaving harbour and passing islands we encountered pod of 5-6 harbour porpoises. Animals were surfacing close by to boat but we couldn't watch them long as in distance something much bigger jumped out of the water. It was clearly a humpback whale. In fact we found 2 whales. Animals seemed to rest or travel as they were going for long lasting dives. We were patient and few times we were rewarded with nice and close sightings. Later on we went further and we spotted minke whale. It was small and elusive individual but even if it was difficult to follow, it was good to slow down to have opportunity to take look at puffins!

Bird species seen on today's tours include: Atlantic puffin, common guillemot, northern gannet, northern fulmar, black-legged kittiwake, eider duck, brent goose, glaucous gull, great black-backed gull
We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. There is some wind and it will be raining on and off today. All our boats have inside and outside areas and to make the tour even more comfortable we provide warm overalls and if you are sensitive to motion sickness we do have seasickness tablets free of charge at the ticket office.
