Report from Eldey: This tour had all the romance You'd expect from midnight whale watching. On our way towards the sunset we encountered the four local cetaceans most commonly seen in Faxafloi: A few harbour porpoises, two pods of white beaked dolphins around 5 individuals each, two minke whales and even a humpback whale crossed our path. But the brightest star of this nature's show tonight for sure was the sun. After wind and weather shooked the Eldey on our way out into the bay, sailing back home was a pleasure due to the sun, providing us with the most beautiful light falling in our backs while everybody was enjoying Simon our musician's joyful sounds.

Report from Eldey: The wind had picket up again and this tour felt much colder out in the bay than earlier today. We decided to sail straight to the area where we had the most action on the 13 and 14 o´clock tours. On the way we got a brief sighting of 3-4 white beaked dolphins. Soon a blow was spotted far away. This turned out to be a elusive humpback whale that we never managed to see properly. When we got further out we spotted another humpback whale, it also dove for long time but we managed to get some nice looks at it before heading back to land. The swell increased a bit during the tour so a occasional splashes broke over the whole boat on the way back to harbour.

Report from Hafsúlan: We sailed out from Reykjavik harbour, and we could enjoy that the sea had calmed down, comparing to earlier tours today. We sailed for about 30 minutes, when we could see something amazing in the distance: a humpback whale breaching! We saw the humpback breach 5 times, a truly breathtaking sight. We came closer to the humpback and saw that we actually had 2 individuals in the area. Just as one humpback was right in front of our boat, a 2-3 harbour porpoises decided to join us.It was great to see the small porpoises close to the gigantic humpback. It was incredible to see the humpback breach and I think everybody on the tour will remember this experience!

Report from Eldey: The wind had calmed down and the sea conditions were better. We decided to head further north, in similar area where the 10 o'clock tour saw the humpbacks. Soon when we got into the area we spotted a blow of a humpback whale! The humpback was rather elusive but we managed to get good looks at it. While watching the humpback we received word from another boat about a very active humpback. While heading there we spotted a minke whale and a pod of 5 harbour porpoises. The porpoises traveled right past us and may have gone under the boat. There were two humpbacks close to the boats and one of them breached out of the water! Right before we left them, one of them surfaced so close to the boat it was within 10 meters of the boat! What an incredible way to end this great tour!

Report from Hafsulan: We had a chilly morning today, enjoying very pure Icelandic summer with some wind blowing from the north. As we sailed, we encountered tons of seabirds flocking and we patiently scanned an area close to them as we knew some cetacean activity was ahead. We had to wait a bit but finally we got rewarded. Firstly, a shy harbour porpoise surfaced out of nowhere and not long after a humpback whale did the same. Once we were waiting for this animal another one surfaced very close to us, in this occasion was a minke whale. We enjoyed these two species for a while before we headed back to Reykjavik.

Report from Eldey: We left Reykjavík in windy weather and sailed into the bay. The spotting conditions were not to great as there were a lot of white caps on the surface and a little wavy. Once we got into the harbour we spotted 2 harbour porpoises. They were jumping from the water and swimming close to the boat. They left the area very quickly so we continued sailing into the bay. The wind was making it hard for us to spot any cetaceans, but we saw a blow from the distance but as soon as we got to the area we saw noting. On our way back to harbour we saw a few birds feeding so we decided to have a better look and then a minke whale surfaced below the flock of birds! We got to see it surface a few times before it went for a deep dive and we had to leave and go back to the harbour.
