Report from Elding: This evening was a little bit windy over Faxafloi bay but even with this north breeze sea stayed calm. We were very enthusiastic about looking for whales as last days we have very successfully tours. Not far away from the harbour we saw a minke whale. Animal surfaced twice and went for a long dive. Waiting for this individual we saw another one and probably one more. Whales were there but they were difficult to watch. We tried to search further out and we came back to same spot as at the beginning but we couldn't´t find more whales. Hopefully our guests will have better sighting when they came back as we offered complimentary tickets at the end of this tour.

Report from Elding: For our tour this afternoon we experienced the whole range of Icelandic weather. First some rain and for the end it even got sunny, while the winds were rather strong for most of the tour. We headed into the direction of Akranes, when we came across a minke whale, which was soon joined by a second one. The whole area was crowded by flocks of feeding seabirds, suggesting that there was a lot of food in this area. After a couple of nice encounters, when one of the whales came quite close to the boat, we went to check out another area. However, when returning to the first area we came across 3 more minke whales, still feeding accompanied by the seabirds, which made for a nice finish of the tour.

Report from Eldey: The bay was a little rocky this afternoon but the weather was still good so we headed out with the sun in our hearts. Our first spotting were 2 harbour porpoises that we caught by surprise as we were sailing out. They only surfaced a few times for us so not everyone got a look at these small animals. Next we saw some minke whales. There were around 5 in the area and one was feeding so it was constantly moving and turning but we were able to get really good looks at them. On our way back to harbour we saw a big splash in the corner of our eyes so when we got a closer look it was a breaching minke whale! It put on a show for us, breaching, spy hopping and chin slapping. It was unreal to see as this is not a common behaviour for minke whales. Everyone left with a big smile on their faces after this incredible tour!

Report from Elding: This morning we sailed in very calm waters but with a light breeze coming from the north, meaning that the tour was going to be a chilly, but that´s not a problem for cetaceans at all! Our morning tour was very productive because we saw a minke whale surfacing very close to our boat and not long after a beautiful humpback whale. This whale was extremely predictable as she was surfacing every 7-8 mins all the time so we could get ready for nice pictures. In the way back, we encountered 2 harbour porpoises which surprised us.

Report from Eldey: It was another beautiful morning to be out on the sea. Water in the bay was calm with only very small swell rocking our boat in relaxing way. On our way out we were accompanied by the Atlantic puffins flying to their feeding ground. Soon after we started to see some splashes in the distance. By coming closer we saw jumping dolphins. Pod of 10 white-beaked dolphins was probably on the hunt as animals were moving very fast in different directions. There were not only dolphins feeding around as minke whale joined the feast and also a humpback whale! It was amazing! Unfortunately our great time was interrupted by a whaling boat which came by caring two dead fin whales on their side. It was incredibly sad moment for us but we still managed to cheer ourself up spending more time with humpback.

Birds seen during our tour: eider duck, northern fulmar, northern gannet, black-headed gull, black-legged kittiwake, atlantic puffin, common guillemot, razorbill, great black-backed gull.
We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. Sea conditions are are favorable but there could always be some movement on the boat and we do have free seasickness tablets at the office. Hope you are able to join us on our search for these magnificent animals in their natural environment.
