Tour at 20:30

Report from Elding: The weather smoothed up after the previous trips. Our first sighting was an elusive minke whale that we were able to fallow for a while, at some point quite close to our vessel. Later on we spotted a blow that we were persistently tracking. After all the effort we managed to get closer to the animal only to realize it was a humpback whale! We were not only able to observe its acrobatic behavior but also lunge feeding, while its head came out of the water with its moth full. Our tour could not end any better as we all got to enjoy great live music until we got back to the harbor. Another awesome ride with Elding!

Tour at 17:00

Report from Eldey: The wind had picked up and the sun had left but still a warm and good day at the bay. Our fist encounter were 2 minke whales that surfaced under a big flock of birds. They were rather small and we even saw them trying to get some fish by making bubbles. They were traveling fast so we lost them after a few minutes. As we were leaving the area we saw a big blow further out the bay. There was no doubt about it that it was a humpback whale. We saw it surface, but it had a buddy, 2 white-beaked dolphins were surfacing with it. The dolphins were probably annoying it as all of the sudden just 20 meters from the boat the whale breached! It caught everyone by surprise and we got very excited. Saw it again surface a few times before heading back to harbour. Amazing tour!

Tour at 14:00

Report from Hafsulan: The weather stayed pretty good as we sailed out to another amazing afternoon in the bay. It didn't take us long to spot a big blow in the distance, so we headed straight into this diretion. We figured out pretty quickly that we were dealing with a humpback whale. It was actively feeding right next to us, not bothering about us, what a show! After some long time with the whale we discovered even 2 minke whales in the vicinity who we could follow for some time. Another amazing afternoon out in the bay!

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: With the continuation of fairly good weather we sailed out to an easy tour. Tours like these make us forget that we sometimes have to work really hard to try to get that sense of wonder in people's hearts. It didn't take us long before we spotted a blow in the distance. Upon coming closer we realized that we were dealing with a humpback whale. This animal was feeding undisturbed by our presence and by doing so came close as 15 meters from the boat at one point during the sighting. Adjacent to this area we soon discovered 2 minke whales that also gave us a good show and made us turn our heads left and right as they were surfacing around us. Another happy tour in the Bay

Tour at 10:00

Report from Hafsulan: We were just setting off from Reykjavik and we immediately spotted a humpback whale really close to the harbor! It is not so common that we get to have our first sighting right at the beginning of the tour. And it would only get better! After enjoying this lovely humpback for a while, we left it and started searching for another cetaceans. Shortly after we found a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins that were foraging. Later on we encountered a humpback whale that provided a hell of a performance! Our researchers were able to identify this individual on board and it turned out to be Pie: a cheerful female that is known for its acrobatic behavior! After enjoying the show for a long while, we started to get back to Reykjavik with a big smile stamped in our faces!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: Finally another sunny morning in the bay! we headed out hopeful for this sunny tour into the bay to look for some cetaceans. We spotted a big flock of feeding birds so he had a closer look and we saw a minke whale! It was surfacing just by the flock and then we saw 3 more around. We got to see some bubbles that the whales were making to catch some fish and saw them really close. In total we saw around 7 minke whales in the same area. We headed back to the harbour early as we heard of a humpback whale close to the harbour. As we were close to Engey we saw it surface a couple of times before we had to go all the way to harbour, great ending of a great tour!
