Tour at 17:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The day was obviously not letting up as the rain continued to try and drench us as we headed south into the bay. The overalls were definitely used to their maximum today to keep our passengers dry and warm. We saw one Minke Whale on this tour which surfaced maybe 5-6 times before diving down and disappearing, we were starting to think that the minke was our lot today but it was also nice to come across a small pod of White-beaked Dolphins (4-5 animals) that seemed to like playing in the waves. We even got a quick glance of a puffin as it paddled past. A miserable day but lots of wildlife.

Report from Elding: We were hoping to have better luck on this afternoon tour and yes we did. We got the message that our sister vessel Hafsúlan had seen a Minke Whale so we headed in the same direction. When we arrived there we spotted a Minke Whale quite close to our boat. We spent some time with this individual until we spotted a pod of Harbour Porpoises 3 meters besides the boat and unusual for them, leaping high out of the water. We had a lot of fun watching them. In a distance we suddenly saw some huge splashes, probably jumping White Beaked Dolphins but when we arrived there we couldn´t spot them again. It was still a very nice tour with a lot of Northern Gannets flying around.

Report from Hafsúlan: We headed south on this tour to try out a new area, this was a good decision because we found a fantastic Minke Whale. We followed it for a long time which the whale didn´t seem to mind at all, after a long time of watching surface here and there quite far away it came closer and then it happened...it started to feeding and even did a belly up feeding behaviour. It was amazing to see the white belly as it rose to the surface. The pink between the ventral pleats was also visible, an incredible and unique behavior to observe. As we were watching the Minke Whale we also saw briefly two Harbour Porpoises as they surfaced 3-4 times and then vanished. We turned to head back to Reykjavik when the Minke Whale gave us one last amazing surface just 5 meters in front of our boat. What an incredible experience.

Report from Elding: It was a rainy morning in Reykjavík when we sailed out into the bay. It was a bit windy but not too bad and we were all excited to find some animals. We got the news that our sister vessel Hafsúlan had spotted a Minke Whale so we tried to see this Minke but we weren´t successful. Even though we searched for a long time we couldn´t spot any animals. It was very disappointing but we can´t control nature thats something we always have to remember. We gave our passengers complimentary tickets valid for 2 years so they could come back on another whale watching tour for free.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The wind was coming in from the south west this morning giving us this warm but wet weather conditions. Everyone on board made use of the overalls we provide keep us all warm and dry. It was nice to see that most of the passengers even stayed up on the top deck with me when the showers came, but they did and it was really nice to have them there help me search for the cetaceans. Today we saw a large pod of at least 20+ White-beaked Dolphins leaping high in the air and a Minke Whale that surfaced 6-8 times before it dived done and disappeared. A wet but fun tour.
