Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: This December weather is just beautiful!! A sentence I said more than once on this tour. The water was mirror like with the first thin layer of ice on it! Just in time for Christmas. We could see all the way to Snaefellsjökull, the largest volcano of Iceland, which means 100km in the distance. And with this beautiful landscape it was just the perfect topping that we found our lovely humpback whale Viðey feeding on herring. It approached us so closely! And spy-hopped, so sticking it's head out of the water, to check us out! Human watching, not whale watching. Finally it began exploring the thin ice on the water surface, touching it with its rostrum and blowing bubbles underneath, obviously keen to explore what would happen. After being with Viðey for an hour, we left it alone so as to not influence it in its behaviour, and headed out towards the Hvalfjörður. The sun began to set at 15:15 already, today being the shortest day of the year, and we got to enjoy both a beautiful sunset and then an incredible rise of a red glowing moon right in the center of the Hvalfjörður. As I said on tour - amazing!!
