Report from Eldey: We first sailed north towards the islands of Kollofjörður in the hope to find our celebrity humpback whale ´viðey´that we have been seeing the last month but unfortunately not the last few days and today was the same, seems like this whale has sadily left the area, we searched a large area of the bay but except from a nice variety of birds we saw no other cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises) until about 2 1/2 hours into the tour when the captains friend let us know of a humpback whale close to Hafnafjörður, 35mins away. We had to have a look and off we went. A great humpback whale and one we actually recognised from previously this month of the 8th and 9th of December. Great to see that its still about and hopefully will stick around. We saw it surface many times and it even breached (jumped out of the water) once. The guide was also very excited to see all the little auks, so small and cute and only seen in the winter time. A slow start but a great finish.
