✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE | at 13:00

Report from Eldey: Yet again, a wonderful day out at sea. With winds having calmed down and turned, the bay was a little bit calmer than the last two days, but the waves were still impressive to those not used to being on boats. But seen with the right perspective, they actually make the trip super fun as long as you move your body along to the motion. And, of course, we tried to sail in calm and protected waters as much as possible. Thanks to the lovely humpback whale we saw for the third day today, we could! We spotted it's blow only about 20 minutes after leaving the harbour and just past Viðey island. It seemed to be doing a Sunday stroll around the islands, moving slowly but with no certain direction. So it surprised us more than once, surfacing suddenly behind us or very close to us. After being a bit shy, it came closer and even showed us it's almost completely dark fluke several times. It was an absolutely joyous tour, with not only this whale but also many birds around and clouds lifting for a bit to let us take in the scenic mountains around. A wonderful way to end this Þrettándinn, the thirteenth day after Christmas and with that also the last day of Christmas in Iceland.
Let's not tell the whales about it so they keep making every tour feel like a Christmas present.
