Report from Eldey: Weather is not going to stop us from having fun. Today was windy, windy as it only can be in Iceland. And it was snowing. But all of that only made this trip more adventurous and indeed, we had a great adventure! Despite wind, sea was calm so only our faces were affected by cold breeze. It was challenging to look around and instead of having trust only in our eyes we followed our intuition. Our captain knew the bay and after a while of going from one snow storm to another we were surrounded not only by snowflakes but by huge number of sea birds. Gull, cormorants and razorbills were everywhere and then, between birds we saw a blow. Soon a tail raised above water and we knew that it was a humpback whale, a very hungry whale as animal begun to feed by coming to the surface or with open mouth or with closed but full of water. Birds were also trying to catch something and were following whale, helping us in predicting where whale is going to surface next. Some tiny black dorsal fins were also making appearance around - a pod of 4-6 harbour porpoises. It was an amazing wildlife display and we were lucky to be in the first row to enjoy that show.

Bird species seen today include: razorbill. common guillemot, icelandic gull, black guillemot, great black back gull. cormorant, eider duck
