Report from Eldey: One of the coldest days of the winter, bbrrrrrrr! The saloons were warm, overalls were ready and hot choclate machines were on full power. We were ready. We sailed out to the same successful area as the morning and had no luck. The wind picked up, which didn´t help in the already cold conditions but we had a lot of vikings onboard and they were prepared. We sailed further in the far distance ´there she blows´ the breath of a humpback whale 4 miles away on our starboard. It took us a while to reach the area and once again it was our guy, the same individual been around almost daily since the 4th January. With every surface we could get to know its movements and mimic them at the surface to get closer and closer with every surface until the point the whale surfaced just 30 meters from our bow. Just a delight. We enjoyed about 45 mins with it, 7 mins wait for every deep dive and then sailed home. The rush at the bar for hot drinks followed to warm the red iced fingers of our happy passengers. Great but cooooollllllddddd tour.

Report from Eldey: Another bitterly cold but just stunningly beautiful morning for all of us out on the boat today. Our search began as usual, going into the area of Kollafjödur to look for the whale we have been seeing there for nearly a month now. As we searched, we had mirror like sea conditions and cloudless skies making it a picture-perfect sunrise to enjoy above Reykjavík, painting the sky shades of red and purple. After 1 1/2 hour of searching we were surprised to still not have spotted our regular whale and thus went out into the larger area of Faxabay. Finally, nearly 2 hours into our tour, we spotted splashes from a pod of at least 15 white-beaked dolphins. They were traveling very quickly but still didn't mind bowriding our boat for some fun. The only reason we left the dolphins was due to a big blow spotted nearby them! The blow of our humpback whale. So while it was still around, it had definitely changed location and behaviour greatly today. Non the less, we witnessed some beautiful lifting of the fluke and had several very close surfaces, letting us even hear it's breathing. So totally worth facing the Icelandic winter temperatures today.
