✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | at 17:00

Report from Hafsúlan: Not meaning to give anything away, but what an unbelievable evening this was. Leaving the harbour still with some sunny spells, we spotted our first minke whale only minutes outside the harbour. With the animal moving slowly enough and regular surfacing sequences we were able to spend about 20 minutes with the animal. While doing so, we also observed about 5-10 harbour porpoises all around us. When continuing further into the bay, we spotted a pod of white-beaked dolphins after about 1.5 hours into the tour. Following the pod of about 10-15 animals we got the biggest surprise of them all: another minke whale 'checking out' our neighboring boat. Soon enough we got closer to the boat and the whale was curious enough to swim over to us as well. With our boat in stand still, the whale kept swimming around and underneath the boat, making it super exciting for everyone to watch. This was definitely an unforgettable tour for everyone on board.

Report from Hafsúlan: Our boat Hafsúlan with two open decks is perfect to enjoy days like we had today. Sea was flat, sun was shining through clouds and there was no reason to stay inside. 15 minutes after leaving harbour we found a minke whale. It was quite confusing as whale was once coming on our left and then on the right side but in fact there were two individuals. First one was rather small and elusive so we decided to follow second one and it was very nice, not only minke was often on the surface but there were plenty of harbour porpoises around. Soon we also saw a minke whale number 3 and after that encounter we went to explore bay. After an hour of sailing we saw huge flocks of birds and under them 3 or 4 pods of white-beaked dolphins. We stayed with pod of 10-12 animals, all females with calves. As the sea was mirror flat we could even watch them through water. It was just beautiful afternoon.

Report from Hafsúlan: This morning we started with quite some sunshine in our faces and a calm sea ahead. The wind picked up a bit when we left the shelter of the harbour, but that didn't lower our spirits. And after not even 15 minutes we spotted our first minke whale. As the individual was very elusive and shy, we continued our sail into Faxafloí bay. While enjoying the sun in our faces we got surprised by the surfacing of a pod of white-beaked dolphins and one shy harbour porpoise. The 5 to 6 dolphins were steadily traveling next to us and once coming even close to the boat to check us out. It was beautiful to watch those animals for almost 30 minutes, before we continued out trip through the bay. Just before reaching the harbour we spotted another minke whale surfacing 4 to 5 times, before we eventually had to return into the harbour. Now we hope our luck and of course the sun shine will stay with us for the upcoming tours as well.
