Report from from Eldey: Finally a flat calm sea! the winds have been very problematic the last days, challanging to follow the fast surfacing whale as they feed and keeping the passenger faces from going green. The fresh Icelandic air helps alot and we have been spoilt with the sunshine. We had a warm relaxing sail and after reaching the productive area of the days tours we saw a huge bushy blow. HUMPBACK WHALE, whoo hoo. This whale was travelling probably looking for some food but by this time the minke whales of the day had gobbled it all up. It surfaced twice, then brought up its beautiful tail as it dove deeper. Then we waited for 6 minutes (timed on my phone) for it to surface again. This was the general behaviour from most the encounter, two surfaces then 6 minutes wait. We were learning its movements and soon had the whale surfacing close to the boat. In a distance a minke whale also popped up quickily but only 2-3 passengers spotted it. As other boats came to the area we left and searched for more life. It was a perfect end to the day and tomorrow it looking amazing too. So put your sunscreen on and come onboard for another adventre at sea.

Report from Elding: The weather stayed fantastic all afternoon and this is also how we started our tour: with lots of sunshine in our faces. Another fabulous day in Faxafloi Bay, but as the previous tour, without any success on cetacean spotting. We did see two blows in the distance and spotted a minke, but only surfacing once and too far away from the boat. The whales that were around us just didn´t seem to be in the mood for being watched today. So we decided that we will give out complimentary tickets to our passengers, to give them the chance to come onto another tour with us in the future.

Report from Eldey: After the beautiful morning we started the trip very optimistic. As soon as we left the port, we discovered that we had the same weather conditions as the tour before. Thus hoping to have great sightings like this morning!. We had to wait around 30 minutes until the first encountered. we spotted at the distance a flock of birds in few minutes we were there. After a couple of minutes we saw a minke whale just few meters from the boat. There was a lot of activity in that area because we had the opportunity to spot a few individuals around the boat. Minutes later we had another flock of birds few miles away and when we got there one minke whale surfaced and then quickly went for a deep dive. It was a perfect afternoon and everyone enjoyed seeing these beautifuls animals.

Report from Elding: The weather was sunny this morning in Faxaflói bay for Icelandic standards. Even if some cold winds were coming from the north, most of our passengers were on the outside decks during the trip, enjoying the beautiful views of the landscape and pointing out the birds that we have been learning about. The great visibility has permitted us to admire the volcano Snæfellsjökull at north, at the end of Snæfellsnes peninsula. Unfortunately, this time we were not able to spot any whales. The cetaceans can be challenging to find sometimes, they are always following the food supplies and that makes them unpredictable. But this is the risk with wildlife ! Because we really wanted our passengers to see whales, we offered them a complementary ticket to go for free on a new tour during the next two years. We hope to see you soon !

Report from Eldey: The winds gave us the opportunity to have a smooth trip today, the weather was looking amazing, really sunny and calm. After 30 minutes sailing we spotted a few splashes in front of us maybe a mile away. when we got there we found a pod of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins. It was a beautiful moment cause they came straight towards us and swam around our boat givin our passenger the opportunity to take great pictures of them. After a while we decided to move to another area and it was a really good decision, we found another pod of 5-6 dolphins some of them were really young and cute. The next moment we spotted a flock of birds in the distance and we headed straight towards it. We were just waiting there for a while and suddenly a blow of a minke whale showed up in the middle of the flock of birds. it was an amazing tour where the people had the chance to see how rich our bay is.

Birds species identified today: eider duck, arctic tern, common guillemot, black-legged kittiwake, northern fulmar, atlantic puffin, black-headed gull, black-backed gulls, arctic skaus, manx shearwater.
We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. We are expecting some winds this morning however calm weather will greet us around noon. There might always be some movement on the boat so if you are prone to seasickness we have some seasickness tablets free of charge at our ticket office. The sun is shining, but make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land.
