 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 17:00

Report from Eldey: The afternoon turned up really calmed. The wind had almost dissapeared and the sea was calm and flat. The rain got us during some time but we were lucky enough to be able to take pictures of the...10 minke whales we encountered! It was crazy! At some point we could feel that we were surrounded by whales and birds. It was so magical! Some of them came that close that we could even hear the breath! It was definitely a great way to end the day.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Wind and rain made this tour truly Icelandic. But we had many enthusiastic passengers who were loving the adventure. We sailed to where we had left our minke on the morning tour and did find it again. Sadly it only surfaced twice and then was not seen anymore. This is of course nature and we have to appreciate also the fact that the animals have the free edom to move away if they want. Thus, this tour remained fun but without further sightings and we offered complimentary tickets to all our passengers to return for a hopefully more whale-some adventure.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 9:00

Report from Eldey: A rainy and gray morning, yet we had a good visibility into the distance. Thanks to this, and of course us paying attention at all times, we spotted a minke whale only half an hour out past Grotta. It was being rather tricky to follow, always showing up randomly and at different times. But that is just how wildlife sometimes is and it got us all prepared to spot the minke whale we encountered later on! It was clearly hunting after fish because it moved incredibly fast through the waves and changing directions after 3-breath sequences. At a point it came to about 70 meters from us and everyone braving the rain outside got a great look at it!

Birds seen today: northern fulmar, northern gannet, razorbill, kittiwake, black-headed gull.

Good morning! We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. It is quite windy this morning so the tour might be bumpy. If you are prone to getting sea sick, we do have sea sickness tablets available free of charge at the office and on board. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.
