 TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | 13:00

Report from Eldey: This afternoon the winds had calmed down a bit and sea was relatively calm. We sailed out into Faxafloi bay in good conditions for spotting. As it had been tricky in the morning, we were sharpening our eyes and scanning the surroundings extra carefully right from the beginning on to be sure to notice any possible signs of whales or dolphins. For the first half of the tour we didn't spot anything but we kept on trying and suddendly out of nowhere 4-5 white beaked dolphins popped up right in front of us very unexpectedly. They were a little challenging to keep up with at the beginning. They were not sticking together but coming and going individually all around, changing direction and coming to the surface very randomly. But eventually, one of them begun showcasing us long sequences of jumps out of the water and an other one was swimming alongside of our boat for a bit allowing us to observe and follow it just beneath the water surface. The long search definitely payed off with this very cool encounter.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | 09:00

Report from Eldey: The winds were blowing strong on our way out of the harbour, but calmed down during the course of the tour. The swell however, remained quite low, guaranteeing quite an enjoyable ride. Apart from the crew’s greatest efforts, there were no sightings along the ride. This is part of the deal when working with wildlife, as it can be quite unpredictable. Though tours like this are rare and something we cannot avoid, we still felt like these experience was below our company standards. Therefore, we provided all our passengers complementary tickets to come back again with us on another whale watching tour for free.

Bird species seen on today's tours: eider duck, little gull, glaucouse gull, northern gannet, common guillemot, razorbil

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today, it is quite windy out on the bay to day so we are expecting some movement on the boat.
