 TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | 09:00

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: We were hoping for a dry, calm morning tour before the bad weather came through. For the most part it was but there was a lot more swell (1.5m) than what was forecasted. must be some bad weather far out to see to get this. We tried our luck in the same place as yesterdays tour and after 1hr 20min sailing we spotted a small pod of 3-4 white-beaked dolphins leaping out of the air and slamming their bodies on the surface. We were able to view them for a while but a little unpredictible in their surfacing, making it difficult to photograph. They disappeared after about 20mins and then a minke whale popped up about 100m from us. Again difficult to photograph but those outside at at the bow saw it at least twice if not more as the whale surfaced to take a breath during its busy feeding frenzy. On the way home the rain started and the wind picked up, the sailing a lot smoother however as we surfaced the large swells. Another pod of 4 white-beaked dolphins were encountered on the way home that we have a nice time with as they come close to the boat. Even those inside could see them. Cold, rainy but fun whale watching adventure this morning.
