Report from Eldey: A foggy, clody day in the Faxafloi. We were sprinkled with light rain for the first half of the tour and the wind picked up as the tour went on. We provided our passengers warm overalls to enjoy this real icelandic sailing experience. Spotting conditions were good, not too many waves and the sea surface a monotone grey colour, which would make it easy to see any dark silhouette popping up at the surface. After two hours of sailing, we suddendly spotted a blow next two us twice. We stopped immediately and were eagerly waiting for whatever it was to resurface again. The blow was quite big, almost unusually big for a minke whale, and since we didn't see the animal itself, we were wondering what species of whale it was. We were waiting for over 25 minutes but didn't see it again. Either it was diving for a very long time which would be more expected from a humpback whale, or it was a minke whale heading away so fast that we simply could't see it resurfacing in the distance. We want our passengers to see more than that however, and for this reason we offered everyone complimentary tickets to come again on a whale watching tour for free within the next two years.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. There could always be some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office.
