Report from Eldey: There was almost no wind but some rain as we sailed out to Faxafloi today. Naturally we provided our passengers overalls to keep warm and dry to enjoy the experience to the fullest. It was cloudy but the monotone grey sea surface without waves made the conditions perfect for spotting any wildife, as the dark body of a whale of a dolphin would be easy to see with  the color contrast. The visibility was very good as well and we started scanning our surroundings from the first minute on. All along the tour we kept seeing flocks of birds close to the sea surface, likely indicating the presence of fish in the area making the waters even more appealing for any Cetaceans. There was a big variety of birds to see including northern gannets gracefully diving into the water which we usually see more in the summer time. Very surprisingly though, there were no whales or dolphins to be found today. When dealing with wild animals  this is what sometimes happens, unfortunately. We want our passengers to have a chance to try again and therefore we offered everyone a complimentary ticket to come on another whale watching tour for free within the next two years.

- Sabrina Voswinkel

Bird species seen today include: great cormorant, shag, eider duck, nothern fulmar, northern gannet, black-backed gull, black-headed gull
