✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE FROM ANOTHER HARBOUR  | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We set off from the town of Elves and Vikings (Hafnafjöður)  today to be in much more sheltered waters than if we went from Reykjavik. We were plesently surprised to find the sea conditions much better than expected. For bird enthusists its was amazing, just as we left the harbour we saw 10-20 red-throated and great northern divers, gloucous gulls, eider ducks and a big flock of red-breasted mergansers it was great. The weather was very Icelandic for this time of the year, switching between rain, sun and just cloudy conditions. It was very beautiful on the way home when the clouds opened and the sun shone a nice warm winters glow over the sea and landscape. Unfortunately the whales and dolphins were elusive, only one harbour porpoise and a lots of seaweed whales  (rafts of brown seaweed that passengers pointed at from time to time) were seen. We offered our passengers complimentary tickets for our passengers to try their luck again in the future. It was still a nice tour to be on.

Birds seen today include: eider ducks, red-breasted mergansers, red-throated divers, great northern divers, cormorants, common guillemots, gannets, fulmars, kittiwakes, gloucous gulls, greater-black-backed gulls.

We will be sailing out from HAFNAFJÖRÐUR today January 25th at 13:00 due to unfavourable conditions out of the harbor in Reykjavík. A bus will be ready and waiting for passengers here at the Old Harbour and drive off to Hafnafjörður at the scheduled departure time. After the tour we will return to Reykjavík by bus again.

This will result in a longer tour, or between 4-5 hrs. and could impact COMBO tours. Guests that are unable to join the tour because of it's length should contact their travel planner immediately to arrange for a different activity or check for other options provided by them
