Report from Eldey and Hafsulan: More sunshine also today! Which was of course wonderful to have when we had the pleasure of taking out 2 boats today to ensure all our passengers would have enough outdoor space and comfort to spread out. The sea was the calmest it has been since the beginning of the year and the indoor areas of our boats were deserted with everyone just enjoying the sun, the sailing and the winter landscape. Just as we got into a cozy mood, everything happened at once. Splashes here and there!! So many harbour porpoises, 10, 20, 30 of them popping up everywhere and feeding alongside a pod of 4 white-beaked dolphins. They were going full speed, chasing fish incredibly fast and we had a hard time keeping up with them. However when they move fast they lift more of their body out of the water and we saw them very well. After some time they slowed down and came close, showing us their unique body colouration as they came up literally right behind us. It was so great to finally have our cetaceans back and show all our passengers what our passion is all about!!!

- Louise Bergqvist and Ines Cuhna

Birds seen today: eider duck, cormorant, northern fulmar, common guillemot,  icelandic gull, glaucous gull.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. There is a strong undercurrent in the ocean now so there could be some movement out on the bay today after the bad weather that we have been having for the past days, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.
