 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 13:00

Report from Hafsùlan: The afternoon started with a very beautiful start: mount Esja was looking gorgeous and magnificent with the snow coat that the night gave it. We could get a very good feeling of what the tour was going to be, quiet waters and afternoon sun. The bay was inviting us to sail into it, and we went with high spirits. The hours went by fast with all the beautiful landscape and the flocks of seagulls, the great northern divers... We kept looking everywhere around the bay with thousand eyes, hoping for any cetacean to pop up somewhere. Unfortunately no cetaceans were encountered so a complementary ticket was issued to everyone willing to come back with Elding on the search for cetaceans!

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 9:00

Report from Hafsùlan: We are starting to notice that the sunrise starts earlier and earlier for everyday and the spring is just around the corner. This morning we sailed out towards a beautiful full moon in the middle of the sky. In the beginning of the tour we had a smooth easy ride with almost no wind and the beauty of the bay in the sunshine. One of our passengers spotted 1 harbour porpoise but as most of our sightseeing with them they quickly disappeared. We continued our search and we are starting to see more and more northern gannets, today they flew really close to our boat so we got a good look at this beautiful sea bird which is the biggest in the northern Atlantic. When we turned the boat around we got hit by a strong wind reminding us that winter is not over here in Iceland yet. That did not stop us in our search for any signs of whales or dolphins for the whole time but without no luck today. It is wildlife and we cannot control it but we want to give over passengers another chance to experience our whales and dolphins so we offered everyone on board a free ticket with us to coma again within the next 2 years.

- Louise Bergqvist

Birds seen today include: Eider ducks, northern gannets, northern fulmars, kittiwake, black-backed gulls, icelandic gulls, glaucous gulls, common guillemot, great cormorant

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. there could always be some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.
