 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 9:00

Report from Eldey: Wohooo, I guess this is what they mean when they say "A storm is coming". As we sailed out, winds were in our backs but still we could feel how strong they were. We aimed to sail along Raykjanes, sailing past Hafnafjöður and into the direction of Keflavík. Birds were extremely scarce today, possibly they were already going for shelter with the storm due to arrive. Thus, one of our main helps for spotting whales and dolphins was not present. With winds picking up and us sailing into the fjord Kollafjöður to check out the areas around the islands, where we have had frequent encounters last year this time, we still had great scenery. Bur despite a beautiful sunrise and unforgettable winter landscape, we of course want to show whales and dolphins to our passengers. And as this did not happen today, a complimentary ticket was given to enable them to a free return trip, wether after the storms or sometime in the next two years. We can't wait to see them again.

Birds seen on today's tours: cormorant, eider duck, kittiwake, common guillemot, black guillemot.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today for the tour at 9:00. There will be some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.
