Report from Elding II: Excellent morning sail! The day started with flat-like-a-lake conditions in the bay, allowing us to spot far and wide for our favorite cetacean species, and they did not miss the date. Lots of flocks of birds (kittiwakes, gannets, PUFFINS…) were leading us the way towards the whales like a bridge. After one hour of sailing into Faxaflói, the first signs of whales appeared in the distance, both blows from humpback whales and dorsal fins from quick minke whales.. Even some pods of harbour porpoises were joining along, and even jumping out of the water! When we arrived to the area, it was a feeding frenzy: the whales were everywhere, 5-6 minke whales and one humpback whale were eating all the fish they could find, competing with voracious flocks of sea birds that wanted their share as well. All this under the breathtaking scenery that the bay has to offer to. A tour to remember indeed, feels very good to be back with our dear animals.
