Report from Elding: Cloudy sky not always indicate bad weather - on the sea it was perfect. Mirror flat water surface provided us with smooth ride and excellent spotting conditions. Not far from the harbour we came across pod of around 10 white-beaked dolphins. There were few playful juveniles between adults, jumping and coming close to our boat. After this nice first encounter we kept going and after 40min we found ourselves in a 'whale territory'. Minke whales were surfacing in all directions and fast we lost track on them. As minkes were moving very fast we decided to focus at humpbacks. In total we saw 4 humpback whales of which with two we had close encounters. First humpback was swimming slowly always staying on the surface giving us nice chance to enjoy its company. Second was feeding actively followed by flock of noisy birds. This one was rolling with his flippers up, diving with fluke high up and few times coming so close to the boat that his loud blow scared us. On the way back we were spotting more minke whales and harbour porpoises almost till we reached the harbour. It was one of the most exciting tours of this summer so far.
