Report from Elding: After the morning tour having been canceled due to rough seas, we braved it this afternoon, knowing it would be a rough ride but nothing to worry about when it comes to safety. Just past Engey island, we began to feel the swell, so our adventure at sea was starting. Luckily it was a fairly warm day so everyone could stay outside to enjoy the scenic landscape. It was after about half of our tour, that we sailed into an area with a lot of active birds. Northern gannets were diving with impressive speeds and we knew there must be whales in the area. Sure enough, we saw at least 3 different minke whales surface from time to time. Unfortunately they behaved very elusive and were near impossible to keep up with. Clearly the whales were more occupied with getting their food, which is how nature works. We absolutely accept that and would never try to change whales behaviour. However, we do wish to give our passengers a better experience and so offered a complimentary ticket to all for a free return trip with us, valid for 2 years.

Birds seen on today’s tours include: atlantic puffin, manx shearwater, common guillemot, arctic skua, northern gannet, kittiwake, black-backed gull, northern fulmar, eider duck.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today for the tour at 13:00.
