Report from Elding: What a beautiful afternoon. This calm seas is a very, very rare sighting here in Faxafloi, paired with 20 degrees temperature it was time to bring on shorts and flip-flops. Sea sickness was of no issue today, sunburn was more likely. We started out with thick, thick fog and less than 100m visibility. Despite that it took us only 40 minutes to spot a blow, with a lot of concentration, even listening for the sound of the blow. It was a humpback whale. As soon as we found it, the fog started to lift and more and more life appeared. Many species of birds and at least 5 minke whales. But we left this area when we found yet another humpback whale that was breaching, slapping it’s pectoral fins and curiously checking us out once we came closer. Absolutely fantastic, it was so relaxed we could spend nearly an hour with it. Using our remaining time, we searched some more, enjoyed sunshine, a stunning landscape surrounding us and another 4 humpback whales as well as at least 3 more minke whales. Definitely one of those tours no one will forget.
