Challenging conditions this morning as the rain begun to fall and wind developed to create a small swell that grew from the south. As we journeyed west through Faxafloi, a range of birds were gathering, showing interest in a small area. Beneath the birds, appeared the blow of a humpback whale that surfaced a few times on our approach. To our surprise, a minke whale appeared very close to our vessel and soon vanished into the grey sea. We were able to watch the humpback for a few surfaces as it displayed its fluke on its descent, but ultimately the whale was a little unpredictable in its movement. Although some passengers observed the whale we decided to offer complimentary tickets due to the whales unpredictable behaviour which made for hard viewing.

Birds observed: gannets, black-legged kittiwakes, puffins, common guillemot, black guillemot, lesser black backed gull, greater black backed gull, fulmars, arctic terns
