Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We are very happy to have had our first whale watching tour of the year and it has been spectacular. We started by bundling up by offering overalls to our passengers so that everyone could be warm during the tour, since even though there were temperatures of minus 5 degrees the wind chill was minus nine. The views today were sure to be the best of the year, with the snow capped mountains of Esja and the Reykjanes peninsula, and with bright sunshine and hardly any clouds leaving a perfect open sky. The sea was a bit choppy but there was hardly any swell so the journey was enjoyable and pleasant. We not only went out to sea to enjoy the landscapes but in search of cetaceans. On our search though we already saw many bird species as common guillemots, icelandic gulls, kittiwakes, and beautiful flocks of european shags. Then finally the blow of a humpback whale! It was swimming erratically around the bay with dives of around 3 minutes. We were hoping to see the tail but this individual was not keen to show it. Even though every time it was somewhere else, we were graced by some very close surfaces, once within less than 30 meters of our boat. More than wishing, it is better to create oceans of happiness, and with this magnificent tour we start the year.
