Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Unfortunately we had to cancel the 09:00 tour due to the weather. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: February is here, one of the coldest months of the year, it brought with it minus temperatures, easterly winds that went from about 4m/s up to 8m/s in a matter of minutes and a snow blizzard.  There was also a rolling swell that rocked the boat a little. We had a nice selection of birds as we left the harbour but very few out in the bay, we were also sad that there were no whales and dolphins encountered on this tour, a couple of very keen eyed passengers spotted two small pods of 2-3 harbour porpoises but after 2-3 surfaces they had disappeared. We offered our passengers complimentary tickets to come again for free and hope they have more to see next time. Despite the lack of wildlife it was nice to be out on the Icelandic ocean taking in the beautiful Icelandic landscape and weather.

Bird species encountered today include:

Common guillemot, razorbill, northern fulmar, black-legged kittiwake, black-backed gull, glaucous gull, herring gull, red throated diver, eider duck.
