Unfortunately we have to cancel our midnight tour due to bad weather on the bay.

Tour at 17:00

Report from Hafsúlan: It was a grey afternoon today when we headed out search for the whales. It did not take us a long time to spot a minke whale not far away from land! And what a minke whale! This one BREACHED twice just right in front of us! WOW! It was absolutely amazing to see this beautiful minke whale jump high out of the water very close to the boat, and not only once but twice! It was surfacing many times close to the boat after that so we could take a good look at it. After a while with this minke whale we decided to search elsewhere in the bay. We did not see anything after that but this minke in the beginning was enough for the whole tour! Really nice tour!

Tour at 14:00

Report from Elding: We sailed out with high hopes, first to Lundey to see the Puffins of which there were many and then out into the bay. We sailed to the area where we were on the 10 o´clock tour but everything seemed to have vanished all the seabirds and no whales. After searching for a while we got word from another whale watching boat of a Minke Whale and so we were of. This Minke Whale was great surfacing many times and sometimes close to the boat. Unfortuently we were very far out and time was running out. On the way back we were hoping for something else but the food must of moved or went further down in the water column as there didn´t seem much in the bay on this tour.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: Unfortunately our midday tour was a little bit difficult. Although the sailing was very nice and we enjoyed to be out at sea we did not find any whales in our bay. There were also not many sea birds around us and therefore we invited all our passengers to another tour and gave out complimentary tickets.

Tour at 10:00

Report from Elding: we started the tour in beautiful weather at Akurey to say hello to the Puffins, there were many there but there lots of other birds such as Eider Ducks, Seagulls and i saw about 4 Arctic Skuas trying to steal food from a Kittiwake. We then sailed out into the bay and after about 40 minutes of sailing we spotted a lot of seabirds. Gannets plunging into the water and many Fulmars and Kittiwakes. We heard of a Minke Whale and once we got there we found that there were three Minke Whales in this area. One surfacing just meters from the boat, so close you could hear the blow and see the white patches on the flippers. Then a pod of 3-5 Harbour Porpoises came to play around and under the boat which was really nice as they are usually quite shy and elusive. Tours like this plus the great weather makes it the best time to be out at sea.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We had typical Icelandic weather on our morning tour - it changed from sunshine to rain and back to sunshine again. We found one minke whale that surfaced very often. Three times it surfaced only a few meters from the boat and it was impressive for all of us to see this whale so close to us. We searched for some other whales in the bay but unfortunately this was the only whale which we saw.

Birds seen on todays tours include; Gannets, Guillemots, Eider Ducks, Kittiwakes, Black Backed Gulls, Fulmars, Puffins, Manx Shearwaters, a Sooty Shearwater, Arctic Skuas, Arctic Terns, Cormorants and other seagulls.
