Report from Elding: Due to a large group booked we sailed out on a 9 am tour today and It ended up being one of those perfect tours that everything just worked together. The tour started with a downpour, rain gear was definitely necessary for this tour and for the passengers that were not prepared, clothing wise, could use the free rain coats/overalls that we had onboard. However, when we found the whales the heavens opened up and could enjoy them without getting wet. The seas also got better and better and eventually were so calm it was like we were sailing on a mirror. Very rare conditions for us here in Iceland. We encountered a super easy going humpback whale, we could even just turn off the engines and have them off for about 20minutes whilst the chilled humpback surfaced around us. As it was just mainly travelling at the surface it didn't really show its fluke well. We had one nice high fluke that many got to capture on their phones/cameras. We then saw a minke whale that was a little less chill but we were able to see it a few surfaces before it went on its way. A wet start but a perfect finish.
