CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Elding: Today was a bit more choppy with some white caps created by the 10 knots of wind in the bay. We went quite far without seeing any sign of a cetacean and there was only a few small flocks of seagulls spreaded in the bay. We were going a bit closer to the land and near Akranes when we spotted splashes made by fast swimmers. We went closer to see a pod of 8-10 white-beaked dolphin. They were porpoising a lot swimming fast but our captain managed to be at the correct place to see them from close a couple of times. There was three calves always swimming close to their mom. A bit further away another dolphin was doing big jumps and big splashes. We stayed a nice moment until we had to head back to Reykjavik.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00
Report from the Ribs: The conditions were less than ideal today as the wind blew from the east which grew in strength throughout the tour, bringing the rain with it. We decided to head along the northern stretch, aiming for the sheltered waters off the coast of Akranes where dolphins had been sighted yesterday. Soon after arriving, a pod of white-beaked dolphins were seen acrobatically leaping from the water drawing out attention nicely. We approached slowly from behind to watch the performance but were delighted to discover that one of the pod members wanted to watch us from alongside the boat. This dolphin repeatedly swam around us, darting from side to side, flashing the white of its belly as it turned. We left the dolphins in search of larger cetaceans but unfortunately none were found. In the end we offered our guests a complimentary ticket to join again.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Elding: The sea was a bit less choppy than this morning with less white caps, at least until the end when the wind started to pick up. It was overcast the whole day but its only in the last 30 minutes that we had a little bit of rain. We went to the same area than this morning near Akranes and after a while searching we spotted 2 white-beaked dolphins from far away. We try to approach the area were they where first seen but they disappear. We made a circle in the area but no way to find them again. We kept going and went behind Akranes in the north of the bay. We saw many adorable Atlantic puffins, majestic northern gannets and fulmars gliding smoothly in the wind but no whale. It was late and we started heading back. When we were near Hvalfjörður, we spotted 2 white-beaked dolphins again, maybe the same than in the beginning. We approached and this time we manage to follow them a bit. They were not in the mood and very elusive so after spotting them a few time we went back to the harbour. We gave complimentary tickets to the passengers to have the possibility to come back in the next two years in Reykjavik or in Akureyri. Hope to see them soon for a new adventure!
