Baleen whale filtering system Humpbacks in hunting mode usually take a good dive, by lifting their fluke and swimming down to the deep for food. Once they have found their prey, usually krill or small fish like mackerel, they increase their speed and just before they reach their prey, they open their mouth.

The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, are some of the most extraordinary natural phenomena on Earth. They occur when charged particles from the sun are carried by solar winds and collide with Earth’s magnetic field. These particles are drawn toward the magnetic poles, where they interact with gases in the atmosphere (mainly oxygen and nitrogen) producing light in various colours.

Realizing that Iceland has a lot to offer we decided quite early on to offer the so called Combo Tours to guests that want to make the most of their time while in Iceland. This way guests can easily combine whale watching with some of the exciting adventures our collaborators are offering.

Our head naturalist, Megan Whittaker, recently published a book about whale watching. It captures some of the best moments of whale watching in Iceland with simple, fun factoids to answer those most frequently asked questions. It's a book full of photographs that says a thousand words, small enough to take home and enjoy for years to come.
