CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out into a choppy and windy Faxaflói bay. Just as we left the harbour, we spotted a massive flock or birds close to the islands. We immediately headed towards the birds, but no whales were to be found, so we made our way out into the open bay. After about an hour, we spotted a lone minke whale! This minke was in a hurry to get somewhere, as we did not see it again and moved on shortly after. Then, we spotted a blow! We sailed towards the location of the blow where we discovered one humpback whale going about its day. The whale was taking deep dives and moving around underwater, but when it surfaced we could see its dark scarred back. We spent some time with this whale before we sadly had to make our way back to the harbour. With the eastern wind in our faces, we headed home huddled inside the warm cafeteria.
