Report from Eldey: What a start to the week we had during this whale-watching tour! A bit of rain quickly turned into clear skies, and the sea was very calm. Our first sighting was of a minke whale, who came up frequently around our boat. After two surface sequences, we left her to head further out. There, we started seeing blows everywhere! We started with a pair of humpback whales. They came up incredibly close to the boat, and we stayed with them for a good moment. Here and there a minke whale came up during the sighting - in total we probably saw around 5 during this tour. When we thought it couldn´t get any better, we encountered another single humpback whale on our way back to harbour, and to top it all off our last encounter was with another pair of humpbacks. These two were clearly in a very social mood: spyhopping, rolling, and almost touching the boat! Although our time was really up, the captain couldn´t resist staying a little bit longer to see what these two were up to, and we were so happy we did - it is not often you get too see two gigantic humpback whales socialising just a few meters away from the boat. Oh, and if you thought that was it - two pods of 3-4 harbour porpoises made some splashes before we returned to harbour.

Report from Hafsulan: We just arrived back from what was probably my most amazing tour so far and which will remain to be so for a very long time. It all started with excellent weather conditions; flat seas, partially sunny skies and no wind. We first encountered an active pod of 6-8 harbour porpoises. They were quite preoccupied feeding and so we managed to see them scramble back and forth quite a bit as we past by. We then saw a pod of 8 white-beaked dolphins. They were quite the inquisitive bunch as they made their way towards us and swam alongside, encouraging us to go faster while they were riding the bow and wake of the ship. After that we found 2 humpback whales and unknowingly entered what would be an encounter we wouldn't even dare dreaming off. It started with the pair feeding, going back and forth feasting on a bay full of fish. After they ate their bellies full it seemed we had caught their interest. Carefully, they came to swim alongside of us, as if they were quietly judging our presence and getting a feel of how close they would be able to get to us. Slowly but surely their curiousity took over. The pair kept coming closer and closer until they were right beside us, slowly swimming besides us and under us, spyhopping often and staring right back at us. This kept going on for the best part of half an hour, each time time coming closer and closer until we had to look straight down to see them. Eventually the whales moved on again, leaving us to snap out of a dream and leaving all stunned. All that was left to do now was applaud this incredible encounter and sail back our route. Along which we were lucky to encounter a minke whale and another pod of 5 harbour porpoises.

Report from Eldey: It was drizzling at Reykjavik port put as we went further out in Faxafloy bay the weather cleared out. With sunny skies on top of us our first sighting was a pot of harbor porpoises with one minke whale .The three porpoises surfaced tow times and the minke multiple times close to our boat. Later on our tour we spotted multiple blows .Indeed we found our self in an area with at least six humpback whales. It was an amazing show with really active whales and that where rolling ,spy hopping and slapping there flukes really close to our boat. Soon the show became even better with a pot of jumping white beaked dolphins that let us speechless. After this wonderfool day we came back to port with a big smile and many nice memories.

Report from Hafsulan: The sun was shining in the bay so we left the grey city behind and headed out on the ocean. Quickly out of the harbour, a big pod of 7 to 10 harbour porpoises showed up! We enjoyed these cute animals in passing before seeing a minke whale close to the boat! It went for a dive and as we were waiting for it to come up again, two blows appeared in the distance. They turned out to be two humpback whales feeding together! These whales were bubble net feeding, super cool behavior to see. A big splash to our right got out attention. A third humpback whale jumped out of the water! They started breaching, chin slapping, pec slapping, rolling over and over again. Every time they went for a fluke dive, they fully breached out of the water. It went on and on, one time even a bit to close for comfort, but absolutely incredible to see! Still in awe of this, we stumbled upon the two humpback whales from earlier again and they surfaced very close to the boat. As if that´s not enough, a big pod of 10-15 white-beaked dolphins showed up! It was a tour that ruined all future whale watching tours.
