CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00
Report from Hafsúlan: Our tour started with a slow and dramatic sunrise with all the warm colours the sun has to show. The sea was calm as a lake and it didn't take long before we noticed something weird on the surface of the water. It looked a lot like a rock, as it wasn't moving but suddenly it did! Of course we kept the mystery until it took a deep breath, but we knew it was a humpback whale! We went around it and it kept napping like a champion. A closer look revealed to be the same whale we had been seeing for the past few days. It soon moved, stretched and fluked right in front of us, very slowly. Diva. We waited for about 5 minutes and there it was, the same individual just 50 metres away from the previous spot. We went around the islands to seek more but all we found was a fast harbour seal making its way across the channel. Checked out with the whale and headed back into the harbour.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00
Report from Hafsulan: The seas were mirror flat with virtually no wind blowing this afternoon. We encountered our good ol' reliable sleepy humpback whale from this morning rather quickly and thanks to the perfect sea conditions we got to stay alongside of it while we could see the whole body shine through the water, from its majestic fluke to the tip of is enormous pectoral fins. Every now and then this whale went for a quick dive, where we could see the the fluke reach up from the water surface. close by we also spotted a minke whale, swimming very frantically around the area, proving a stark contrast with the behaviour of the humpback. From then onwards we could simply alternate between the whales, or even see both at the same time, as the minke passed close to the sleepy humpback!
