CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The day was cold, but absolutely gorgeous as we sail out to look for whales in Faxaflói. We first went to the area where we had most sightings. After a while going in between the islands, we found, close to the shore, a big blow from a humpback whale, very gently coming up to breathe. We came a bit closer and its diving pattern was a bit tricky, spending about 8 minutes under the surface and popping up next very far from its original place. We stick to it a bit more, since the sea conditions were so good we could easily spot this whale from a distance. We after went to another area, where, heading to the sun glare, we spotted another big tall blow! Another humpback whale came up to the surface. When we got closer, we waited for over 10 minutes before spotting it again. Good that we had about 3 grey seals that were curious looking at our vessel, from different distances. This whale started to log, calmly resting as we watched in silence. At the same time, the moonrise was extremely breathtaking behind the mountains. We also had this beautiful orange taking over the sky, showing us the tour was nearly over. We said goodbye to this sleeping beauty and started heading back home.
