Elding has been openly LGBTQ+ friendly since we started in 2000, and we have now taken the next step by signing an agreement with Samtökin '78, the National Queer Organisation of Iceland, to begin implementing their LGBTQ+ workplace certification programme.

The goal of this partnership is to create a clear platform for discussion, information gathering, and the sharing of education, research and development related to LGBTQ+ inclusion. The certification programme is a structured process that will take place throughout 2026. It includes several key steps, such as:

  • Staff survey, with a specific focus on LGBTQ+ issues
  • Review of Elding’s policies and procedures
  • Training sessions for all staff
  • Workplace assessment

For us, this work is about more than a certificate; it's about strengthening long term inclusion standards and ensuring that everyone feels welcome and respected, whether they are part of the team or joining us as a guest. We believe it is important to take responsibility through actions as well as words, and to be a clear role model by truly walking the talk. By working with independent third party experts, we can be confident we are on the right path and doing our best to support inclusion and human rights.

We are proud to take this step with Samtökin ’78, and we look forward to sharing updates as the certification process progresses.
