Our wildlife research is a never ending project as we are seeing new individuals every year and frequently encountering whales we have come across on our tours before. Gathering data such as photographs and GPS coordinates can tell us a lot about an individual; including habitat use, feeding grounds and social structure.
Currently we are working with MSc student Eline to gain a deeper knowledge of the minke whales in Faxaflói and estimate their value for the tourism industry - essentially to indicate whether minke whales are worth more alive or dead.
