Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: The weather was good this morning with a cold but soft wind from the east. The swell was still present making the boat move a bit. We went far out trying to find some cetacean and then scouting as many areas as possible. There was some guillemots and fulmars but no big flocks of birds. The sunrise was gorgeous with and pink colours on top of the white mountains behind Reykjavik. We saw a pod of 4 harbour porpoises during the way back but nothing more unfortunately.  We gave complimentary tickets to our passengers giving them the possibility to come back in the next two years.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: This afternoon we set sail once again, eager to see what was in store for us. We headed straight into Faxafloi, this time heading a bit more South to see if we could cover a new area to this morning. After over an hour of searching we came across a big flock of birds, these are great bio-indicators and are a sign of a healthy eco-system. They also often eat the same food as the cetaceans so its always worth scanning the area where there is a lot of them. We hovered a few moments and our gamble paid off! A blow! We headed over as it was still a little bit further, and while we were on our way over we saw it was a humpback whale! It went for a deeper dive and we could see a gorgeous fluke dive in the distance. We got closer and then waited for it to come up again. Sadly luck was not on our side and it did not come up again. We waited as long as we could but had to start our return journey back to the harbour. In the end we handed out complimentary tickets. This way everyone can have another chance to come back and try their luck again.
