Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 9:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress according to weather, as it is usually colder at sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: The most beautiful orange and pink sunrise lit up the bay on this cold February morning. We spotted a blow in the first fifteen minutes of the tour, followed shortly by another one, and then a third blow! Three humpback whales, accompanied by hundreds of sea birds, were feeding separately around Viðey. The whales came up regularly, often showing us their flukes and sometimes even swimming towards the boat. One of the individuals lifted up his pectoral fins high out of the water, maybe to capture the fish with his flippers in an unusual feeding manoeuvre. We had an almost non-stop spectacle of humpback whales swimming around us for the whole tour, and the beautiful sky and snow-covered landscape completed the magic of this unforgettable whale-watching adventure.

Report from Eldey: We sailed out this afternoon expecting it to be even colder and windier than the morning but thankfully it was a bit more mild (still freezing though!). Once again we didn't have to wait long before we spotted a blow of a humpback whale. This whale surfaced many times close to us and even went for some fluke dives. It seemed to be feeding lots as it would not dive for long but would resurface in very random directions. We then decided to leave this whale as other boats approached. But not even 2 minutes later we saw another blow! It was a second humpback. This one was taking longer dives and did not show the fluke at all. The two whales then approached each other and got very close. We also saw 2 grey seals during the trip that were bottling. One was within metres of a whale too which was cool. By the end of the tour both whales had shown their beautiful flukes and gave us a great show on this cold day.
